"There is nothing wrong [with what]... our leader did. If he did anything wrong why [is this case happening] now?" asked a supporter. "It is because we are going to Mangaung. Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai and Elizabeth Macheka. A South African woman says the PM terminated their love affair through a telephone text message  PHOTO | NATION MEDIA GROUP Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s former lover who tried to stop his wedding a fortnight ago says that he dumped her through a text message. Ms Nosipho Shilubane launched an unsuccessful court application to stop Mr Tsvangirai’s wedding on September 15, to Ms Elizabeth Macheka, claiming he had also promised to marry her. Although her appeal was dismissed for lack of merit, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader’s marriage licence was cancelled after another woman, Ms Locardia Karimatsenga Tembo, convinced the court that he was customarily married to her. Mr Tsvangirai, 60, opted for a customary union with Ms Macheka, 35, amid calls for him to be arrested for allegedly lying under oath. ‘Take a few drops of urine and let us know how you feel’

A Catholic father has been popularising urine therapy, claiming that it cures all ailments, including HIV and Aids. PHOTO  FILE | NATION MEDIA GROUP When the luxuriantly bearded Fr Francis Limo Riwa took a glass of urine at a facility in China which, he claims, healed his backache, the man of the cloth started treating the human waste as the water of life. But now the Catholic priest’s urine-inspired advocacy has kicked up a controversy in the Kenyan region of Meru, with a medical doctor falling short of calling his pursuit a crackpot’s pastime and his church distancing itself from the bizarre therapy. But the doctor and the church might as well keep their opinions to themselves. Every Wednesday morning, a group consisting of mainly members of the Charismatic Union throngs Fr Riwa’s Kieru Prayer House for a praise-and-worship interdenominational mass during which they blend faith healing with healthy doses of fresh morning urine. Fr Riwa has been holding meetings

Be balanced, Sumaye advices

Image
Katesh. The former Prime Minister, Mr Frederick Sumaye, and the longest serving MP for Hanang, has cautioned Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) leaders not to disregard everything said by opposition leaders. Addressing Hanang councillors, he said it would be a grave mistake to assume that opposition parties were there merely to undermine the ruling party and development programmes taking place. He noted that it was equally wrong for the opposition to disregard development programmes initiated by the ruling party because there was clear evidence that something was taking place in Hanang. The former PM said he believed credit for development efforts being made in Hanang and other parts of the country should not necessarily be associated with any political party but members of the public who were actually implementing them. "Leaders have the right to make their manifestos known but when it comes to development projects, they should collaborate to ensure their successful implementation,&qu
